I continue to be surprised by the sheer variety of styles embraced by my fellow Racinians and reminded why I had the idea to start barging into their homes! I’m a genius.
Megan works with her family’s business, which deals in fine art, antiques, furniture, etc. So yeah… she’s got “the eye”. The home is scattered with well- placed evocative, fun pieces and vignettes displaying little treasures and decorative trinkets. And bonus… some of it is for sale! I’ll plop the link down at the bottom of this post so you can explore.
Travis is responsible for all the books and loves old things so their styles merge into this charming layered space that you could spend 100 years in. Don’t worry. I didn’t. But just look at some of the gems I managed to shoot.
Trinkets! Megan made me lock and unlock one of her padlocks which gives you the most satisfying clink. She says they are her fidget spinners.
This portrait of Megan was done by one of her favorite artists, Michael Patterson. She got to meet him through a gallery she worked at. The floral painting is from the 1940’s. Nicario Jimenez is known for his intricate handmade retablo art and is in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian. Wacky. Check. Fabulous. Check.
Try not to love this antique mini doll. You can’t do it. And the bookends are of 18th century Chinese reclaimed antique wood carvings fashioned into bookends. Carvings are likely to be of a “Mother Foo” dog or “Chinese Guardian Lion”

“How much is the turkey foot?” Sometimes you have to ask the difficult questions to get what you want in this world so that’s what Megan did.
